As a manufacturing company, it is now more than ever important to consider each aspect of the manufacturing process from a sustainable point of view.
Our work with sustainability as a continual process is a natural part of our everyday work. Demonstrating our commitment to Corporate Responsibility is crucial if we are to continue being well positioned and to take advantage of opportunities in the demanding and growing lighting market.
Sustainability
Manufacturing
Today BLOND is one of the few companies, in the lighting business, which still manufactures and market only their own products.
In an age where most companies have chosen to put their manufacturing either abroad or to produce their products several miles away from their office, we have kept true to our manufacturing heritage.
BLOND manufactures the products in Värnamo, Sweden and uses environmental friendly methods in all the stages of the production.
By carrying out the manufacturing process under our own roof we don´t contribute to pollution in form of transportation, and at the same time we can keep a high quality of our products.
Making sure we always work with the latest lighting technology, we ensure our customers that our products are always supplied with the most energy efficient solution.
Our products are applicable with intelligent controls, for example motion- and daylight sensors, in order to provide a lighting environment which influences our earth to a minimum extent.
Circularity through Sustainability, the “2nd Cycle by BLOND”.
The “2nd Cycle”, the generating of a second cycle in the lives of luminaires, is a key component in our ongoing environmental work.
The BLOND 2nd Cycle idea is one that is not limited to BLOND luminaires alone, rather we aim to aid all types off different luminaires and to take special care of them.
Be it a dated BLOND luminaire, a chandelier, an UNESCO-listed world heritage luminaire or one of a completely different brand, each luminaire deserves a second life.
The 2nd Cycle doesn´t only imply the luminaires at hand, but also the impact a renovated version will have on the actual light environment.
Perhaps the original light environment is of such worth, that we must consider mimicking it and not altering it.
Perhaps a matured and patinated surface should be retained, and should be an echoe of history.
Thus, the 2nd Cycle will inevitably incorporate the architecture as well.
With the goal to facilitate the creation of beautiful spaces by lighting design through an holistic approach, we exist to evoke meaningful responses that improve the wellbeing of every individual.
Enabling them to work, live and focus in a more sensible way through the combination of design and technology.
